Origin and Background
Lagenandra meeboldii 'Red' is an exceptional aquatic plant native to the shaded streams and marshy areas of southern India. Belonging to the Araceae family, it shares a similar growth habit to Cryptocoryne but is distinguished by its thicker, broader leaves and robust rhizome.

Care and Maintenance
This versatile plant is relatively undemanding and thrives in a variety of aquarium conditions. It is categorized as an easy plant and performs beautifully under low to medium lighting. While CO2 injection is not strictly necessary, providing it along with a nutrient-rich substrate will significantly enhance its growth rate and bring out the deepest red and orange hues in its foliage.
Aquascaping Application
In the aquarium, Lagenandra meeboldii 'Red' is best utilized in the middleground where it serves as a fantastic focal point. Its thick rhizome can be planted directly into the substrate—ensuring the rhizome itself remains unburied to prevent rot—or it can be carefully attached to hardscape materials such as driftwood and rocks, making it highly adaptable for various aquascaping layouts.
