Tank size:
Due to their adult size of up to 25 cm and their need for swimming space, a minimum tank size of 200 liters (55 gallons) is required, though 300+ liters (75+ gallons) with a large footprint is highly recommended for adults or groups.

They thrive in tropical temperatures ranging from 22-28°C (72-82°F).
pH
A slightly acidic to neutral pH between 6.5 and 7.5 is ideal.
Hardness
Water hardness should be kept moderate, ideally between 4 and 15 dGH.
Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate

While they prefer live foods like feeder fish, insects, and earthworms, it is highly recommended to wean them onto meaty frozen foods to avoid introducing diseases. Suitable frozen foods include silversides, lancefish, chopped prawns, and krill. Dry foods are rarely accepted.
Some Feeding Tips
Use feeding tongs to wiggle frozen fish or prawns near the surface of the water. This mimics the movement of live prey and triggers their ambush instinct, making the transition to non-living foods much easier.
Breeding
Breeding in the home aquarium is rare and difficult. They are egg scatterers that reproduce during the rainy season in the wild. Courtship involves the male chasing the female, followed by the release of hundreds of eggs among floating vegetation.
