World Ranking 0044 Winning Works IAPLC 2023

Comments from Mr. Gireg Allain (France)

This year, my best aquarium was easy to find. Of all the others, he was the one who made the biggest impression on me and stopped me while I watched all the other aquariums. The feeling is very pow-erful, and especially very original. Looking at this landscape, I had the impression of lying on the ground, in the grass of the forests, and of being looking up, where I discovered the trees rising towards the sky. This almost creates a feeling of vertigo as the perspective is perfectly realized. This sensation is achieved from several technical points. The vanishing point of the decoration respects the golden ratio, the roots are particularly long, they are visible on almost all their length. All this makes that the composition gives a very strong feeling of height. The vegetation is remarkably well arranged. It is present to emphasize the inclinations of the wood, without hiding it or breaking the vanishing lines, it is a particularly fine work that perfectly strengthens the presence of the wood and its dynamics. A small regret is the aosence of fish, but perhaps their presence would have disrupted this extraordinary prospect? This aquarium presents a quality work for a maximum effect. A perfect and very effective realization.

Comments from Karen Randall - AGA 2023

While it is obvious that you were trying for a forced perspective here I don't think it is really working for you. With the beautiful wood you had at your disposal combined with these nice plants I think you could have arranged the wood in a more compelling way.
