"Chapada Diamantina" by Ms. Ana Paula Cinato was ranked sev- enth in the IAPLC 2013 World Ranking with a score of just 2 points behind the sixth place. This layout was created in the motif of Cha- pada Diamantina (or Diamond Highlands) National Park in Brazil. Besides skillfully depicted sheer cliff using unique-textured stones, this Iwagumi layout features a distinct atmosphere created by the effective use of stem plants and Eleochalis acicularis instead of mosses and ferns and by placing gravel instead of white cosmetic sand. The impression derived from these arrangements was likely to lead to a high score. Mr. Mitsuo Yamasaki and Mr. Hajime Ozaki from Japan regarded highly while Mr. Claus Christensen from Den- mark gave relatively low score for this layout. The presence of Bra- zilian aquascapers was outstandingly prominent in this year's con- test. This move is backed by the active efforts of planted aquarium groups of the country in promoting skill enhancement by experi- enced and highly skilled aquascapers who provide advice to the group members. We hope aquascapers engaged in group activities to keep in mind the IAPLC's rule whereby the entry for this contest must be created by an individual contestant and the picture to be submitted must be taken within the past one year.

When I received the notice that my aquarium achieve the 7th place in IAPLC contest, I couldn't believe it! A dream came true! This is the most difficult and respected aquascaping contest worldwide, and to achieve a "Bronze Prize" is more than I can imagine in my most optimist thoughts! My work was inspired in a very beautiful region of Brazil, called "Chapada Diamantina", and I think the unusual stones from this area were appreciated from the IAPLC jury... I would like to dedicate this award to Aquabase Layout Team, because I will never achieve such result without the experiences shared between these talented aquascapers!
