Hong Kong, is an aquascaping Giant, a fact that no one can argue! They have won Back to Back IAPLC Grand Champion in 2007 and 2008!! Since then, they had risen in the aquascaping world and reach the peak in 2011, where they have 5 scapers ranked in the top27 of the IAPLC 2011, in the same year, they also achieved the best average ranking in the Aquascaping world as a nation!!
When we talk about aquascaping in Hong Kong, inevitably we need to mention Creative Aquascape Union (CAU - 薏景堂). As one of the pioneer aquascaping club in promoting aquascaping around the world through internet platform, CAU's influence in the world of aquascaping is invaluable!
It is also not an overstatement to say that the rise and fall of Hong Kong aquascaping, relates closely to CAU. The strength of CAU basically determine the fortune of Hong Kong aquascaping. We have seen some core CAU members "retiring" from aquascaping in recent years, how much this situation contributed to the recent Hong Kong aquascaping scene we are not sure but we believe it is related.
9.2 Average Ranking in 2011!!!!!! Anything below 10 is GOD-like level!
The trend is not encouraging but we know the tide will turn!!!
Strength
Hong Kong still have many super talented aquascaping masters that can easily break into the top ranking with a snap of their fingers! They are just waiting for the right moment when the inspiration and motivation clicks!! For a country with such a rich aquascaping history, they are not lacking in ability, they are just waiting for the right moment to rise again.
Weakness
Does Hong Kong produce enough young blood in this hobby? We surely do not see enough new faces from Hong Kong in recent years!
