Description
Anubias barteri var. nana "Kirin" is an exquisite aquatic plant cultivar that stands out due to its strongly ruffled leaf edges. The name "Kirin" derives from a mythical dragon in East Asian folklore, reflecting the scale-like, textured appearance of its dark green foliage.
Care and Maintenance
Like other Anubias varieties, "Kirin" is extremely hardy and undemanding. It thrives in low light conditions and does not require supplemental CO2, though it will benefit from it. It is best attached to hardscape materials such as wood or rocks. If planted in the substrate, the rhizome must remain exposed to prevent rotting.
Aquascaping Application
With its compact size and slow growth rate, Anubias "Kirin" is perfect for foreground and midground placement. Its uniquely textured leaves provide excellent contrast against smoother-leaved plants or fine-textured mosses, making it a favorite for detailed hardscape transitions.
