The inspiration for this work came from my trip to Japan for last year’s IAPLC award ceremony, where I witnessed the sun-kissed and plant rich streams of Takashi Amano’s childhood. In contrast to a traditional Iwagumi, I chose to incorporate a variety of plants reflecting the abundance and wildness of nature. In order to give a bright impression and reflect the refreshing feeling of summer, Eleocharis Vivipara was maintained to allow light to filter through. Nuphar Japonica was chosen for its underwater feeling and as a plant native to Japan. In addition, plants such as Potamogeton Gayi and Cabomba sp. were selected to accentuate the warm hues of the midsummer sun, whilst the Riccardia Chamedryfolia and Bolbitis Heudelotii-covered stones were arranged carefully to make the viewer feel the impression of flow and the passage of time. I hope this Iwagumi pays a special and nostalgic tribute to Takashi Amano at the 25th anniversary of the IAPLC.
