Taxonomy and Habitat
Blue Dream shrimp are a selectively bred variant of Neocaridina davidi, a species native to Taiwan and parts of China. In their natural habitat, they are found in streams and ponds with heavy vegetation. The Blue Dream morph is entirely a product of captive breeding, developed to display a solid, deep blue hue.

Water Parameters
These shrimp are highly adaptable and thrive in a wide range of water conditions. They prefer stable parameters with a temperature between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius and a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Maintaining consistent water quality and avoiding sudden changes is crucial for their long-term health and successful molting.

Diet and Feeding
As omnivorous scavengers, Blue Dream shrimp are not picky eaters. They will graze on biofilm, algae, and detritus found in the aquarium. To ensure optimal health and coloration, supplement their diet with high-quality sinking shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables, or specialized mineral-rich foods designed for invertebrates.

Tank Mates and Behavior
Due to their small size and peaceful nature, they are best kept with non-aggressive tank mates. Small, peaceful fish like tetras or rasboras are suitable, though any fish may eat baby shrimp if there is insufficient cover. Dense planting, such as the included Christmas Moss, is essential to provide hiding spots for juveniles and molting adults.

Molting and Breeding
Like all crustaceans, these shrimp must molt their exoskeleton to grow. This process requires adequate calcium and stable water parameters to ensure they can successfully shed and harden their new shell. They reproduce easily in captivity, with females carrying eggs under their tail for approximately 30 days before releasing fully formed, miniature versions of the adults.
